WE WENT OVERBOARD

Illustration

We wanted you to have fun for years, not months, so we went above and beyond with all of the specifications to ensure the finished product would outlast the others.

Illustration

718 COMPONENTS

Even our pieces have pieces, we need to make a smaller board game in the future, this is outrageous.

Illustration

400 GSM CARDS

Every one of the 300 cards in the box is thick enough to eat your very small dinner off. A normal playing card is about 220 gsm.

Illustration

50 PAGE SCORE CARD

We wanted you to be set up for the long haul. If you play once a month for 4 years you still wont run out of score cards.

Illustration

3.5 POUNDS OF GOODNESS

With so many pieces we had to get a thicker box and a thicker board and a better blow mold tray and whammy! 3.5 pounds of game.

FAQ

Something unclear? Browse through this section to find answers. If you didn't find a solution, please submit the question and we will add it.

  • BATTLE CREEK

Battle Creek is touching 4 conferences that you can choose to start in. Ontario, Central, Southeast and Quebec. You can start in the same conference as someone else, but no more than 3 churches can start in the same conference.
In a 6 player game, you may all decide to bunch into 2 conferences, making you all eligible for a conference office straight away.
Because each player starts with a church on the map here, when the game begins, your first phase is to plant your second church on the map, then phase 2, roll the dice.

  • BACKSLIDING

When you land on backsliding, you turn is over immediately (unless you have a "Revival" special card). You now miss out on phase 1 & 3 of your next turns until you land on or pass Revival and Reformation. Only one dice is to be rolled, and it may take from 2 to 11 turns to get out of your sorry state.
During these turns, you do not get to collect the resources you land on, and nobody can trade with you. Any spiritual gifts that create an income for you also stop working. Other players may still choose to take resources from you if their specials cards allow them to. Once a player is out of backsliding, they collect the resource they land on and continue to phase 3 of their turn.
    Risk it for the Biscuit!
A backslidden player can choose to roll both dice, if they roll doubles or a 7, they can advance directly to Revival and Reformation, collect those resources and move to phase 3 of their turn. If they do roll doubles they do not get to continue rolling.
If they do not roll doubles or 7, they don't go anywhere and have effectively wasted a turn, but brought much laughter and joy to the table. On their next turn, they may choose to risk it again or stick with a single dice.

  • GOYE SQUARE AND ITS EXPERIENCE

When you pass the GoYe square, you earn one experience only, no matter what level of the game level indicator you are on. When you land on the GoYe square, it acts as a general experience square and you can multiply your incoming experience by the game level indicator.
If you had been sitting on this square and in your next turn you move off it, you do not earn experience again.

  • HOW TO BUILD

In phase 1, free church plants must expand your territory, and not go inside an area you already occupy. They must go in an area boardering on your occupied area.
Paid church buildings can go inside an area already occupied by you.
There must be 2 of the level below, and you must own at least one of them, in order to build up.
For example, 2 churches in an area, and at least one of them is yours, before you can build the conference office. 2 conferences in a division and at least one of them is yours, before building that division office, and 2 divisions on the board, at least one of them being yours, before building the GC office.
Each of the 58 conference areas can hold up to three churches. Those 3 churches could belong to anybody.
There can only be one conference owner per conference area. That conference owner becomes the owner of all the TMI from churches it sits on.
There can only be one Division owner per Division. The building sits on the Division stamp and they earn 20 TMI for every conference in their region, but they don't take TMI from anyone.
There can only be one GC owner. The building sits on the GC stamp and earns 40 TMI for every Division on the map, no matter who owns them.

  • HOW TO SCORE

    1. Special card scores are made up of the TMI on completed mission trips and spiritual gifts.
As you score each building, remove it from the board to avoid confusion.
    2. GC – The GC owner collects 40 TMI for every division on the board, not just their own.
    3. Division – The division owner collects 20 TMI per conference in that Division, not just their own.
    4. Conference – The Conference owner collects either 20 TMI (for a 2-church conference) or 30 TMI (for a 3-church conference). Remember that those churches are absorbed by those conferences and won't count for anything else.
    5. Church – Each church left on the board is worth 5 TMI.
    You now have a winner.
    6. In the event of a tie, players should count the remaining resources in their hand and deduct one TMI for every resource they did not invest in the work.
The Conference level is the only level at which a player takes TMI value away from someone else.
The next levels simply earn off but don't take from the other players.

  • PLAY ON SABBATH

We caution you to avoid becoming competitive and losing focus on the most important part of the Sabbath. This game was not purpose-built to be played on the Sabbath.

  • RED DOTTED LINES

The red dotted lines in the ocean are the paths you can take to connect with other conference areas over the sea. Algeria is connected to Spain and Romania because the borders are touching. Nunavut is made up of 2 landmasses, but it is still one single conference.

  • RUN OUT OF PIECES

If you run out of pieces to use, simply adopt another color set that is not being used and play on.

  • SHOW MY HAND - RESOURCES

The game was originally designed with Resource tokens instead of Resource cards and therefore each person's resources were designed to be on display for all to see. If your friends decide to conceal their hand of cards, it will be up to card counters to keep an eye on who is earning and spending what.
There is currently no set rule on who must display what resources, but it makes for a friendlier game if everything is laid out on the table for all to see.
If you happen to have a set of tokens or chips that stack, with 5 different colors, have a go. But surely none of us will own a poker set, so this will be hard to find.

  • SPECIAL CARDS

Special cards cannot be used on the same turn in which they are purchased.
Single Use Cards - After they have been used, they must be discarded, and not recycled into the deck.
Mission Cards - Complete a mission by planting a church in each of the areas listed on the card. You do this by growing your territory naturally as you play. Once you have reached each area, you earn the TMI in the gold badge. The "Fly and Build" mission allows you to go somewhere new to you and plant a FREE church there. If a player does not reach the conferences outlined or does not have time to use the fly and build mission card, they simply do not earn the TMI listed on the card.
Spiritual Gifts - Once you turn the card face up, its effects become active for the rest of the game, and each spiritual gift has a value of 10 TMI. If you have 2 of the same spiritual gifts, the powers are not doubled or amplified. A second Evangelism Spiritual Gift card can act as the second card needed to activate its powers.Administration cards each have different rewards that can be useful.Reminder: Having two Wisdom spiritual gift cards does not entitle you to two free resources per turn, but you do get 10 TMI per card.
GC Session Delegate - This gives you a free Conference or free Division. You still need to have the supporting framework below before building these free offices. And since they are free and not paid, the Administrator does not earn on these.
Call for Volunteers - If you are one of the two people chosen to volunteer, any incoming resources from your next turn are donated to the player who played the card. This includes the free resource from the Wisdom spiritual gift and any other incoming resources from other special cards you choose to play. You cannot play another one of these if it overlaps with an active card. In a 6 player game only, the 3 people not tied up in the action of the current card may choose to initiate a new volunteer agreement using one of these cards.
Special cards can be traded with other players if you reach an agreement.Traditionally special cards were designed to be played in phase 3, but there could be some strategic advantage to playing a card earlier.

  • WORK AND OFFERING

Every time someone lands on Work - an extra finance card is collected and placed on the offering square. Eg, at Conference level, collect 2 for you and 1 extra for the offering.
When someone lands on Collect Offering, they collect all of the finance from the offering basket. You can also advance to the Collect Offering square with the right special card.
